I have been part of weekly national planning calls for organizing the People’s Climate March in Washington DC on April 29. (A sister march is also being planned for Chicago on the same day!)
People’s Climate is a broad based coalition of groups connecting climate devastation with racial and economic justice. One of their goals is make sure that front line communities (those particularly affected by climate degradation) attend the March and also take leadership in planning the event. In addition to the Washington, DC March, there will be sister marches across the country, one of which will be in Chicago.
A planning session this coming Saturday, March 18, is happening right here at The Well for those who want to help mobilize people and communities to take part in either the D.C. or Chicago March. (The Well’s sponsor, The Congregation of St. Joseph, is a partner in this climate movement.)
